Air China Ltd is the flag carrier airline of the People's Republic of China with its head office in Beijing. The airline has made London its second home and operates a hub at London Heathrow Airport. The airline was founded on 10 April 1991 as a result of the merger of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and China National Aviation Corporation (CNAC). In 1998, it became the first Chinese airline to purchase an Airbus A330 aircraft and initiated scheduled services from Beijing to Dubai in 1999.
The airline's first UK service was launched in 2000 with flights from Beijing to London Heathrow Airport using a Boeing 747-400 aircraft. Air China has since expanded its UK operations and now operates a total of 17 routes between the two countries. The airline's fleet currently consists of 183 aircraft, including Airbus A319, A320, A321, A330-300 and Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
