Air Serbia is a national airline company of the Republic of Serbia. It was founded in 1927 as Aerial Services Limited, and commenced operations on 1 January 1928. The airline changed its name to JAT Yugoslav Airlines in 1945. It continued operations during the 1991-2001 breakup of Yugoslavia, but following the NATO bombing of Belgrade, the airline was banned from flying over NATO airspace. In 2003, the company was rebranded as Air Serbia. The airline commenced scheduled passenger services from its hub at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport on 26 October 2013. In March 2014, Air Serbia announced plans to commence operations from London Heathrow Airport in late-May 2014. The airline's inaugural service from London Heathrow Airport took place on 27 May 2014.
